I recently got an email from the folks over at MaxBlogPress asking me if I had used the Ninja Affiliate plugin for WordPress. The timing was actually perfect, since I have been working on different ways to optimize my traffic on a few of my affiliate sites, and although I have tried several different link cloaking tools over the years, I had yet to use the Ninja Affiliate Plugin.
If you already do, or plan to use WordPress to manage any of your affiliate sites, having the right WordPress Affiliate Plugins is one of the keys to your success! The MBP Ninja Affiliate, is one of those that makes life easy!
After thinking about it for like… less than 5 minutes… I sent Deelip a reply and he sent me a review copy of the plugin, which I promptly installed on one of my to-do-list sites, and started using.

Ninja Affiliate does a few things VERY WELL, it helps you “Cloak your links”, and it allows you to “Replace words like this with links” (actual plugin in action) When I installed it onto my affiliate site, I was able to take the name of a popular software the site was focused on, and have Ninja Affiliate rewrite the occurrence of the product name into affiliate links a specific number of times on every page of the site. Here’s the kicker… I was able to do this on a 280 page site, the whole site, in less than 5 minutes!

Ninja Affiliate worked for a little while and then the feature that I really wanted it for, auto-linking keywords, failed. Instead of auto-linking, it would duplicate images in my post.
MBP’s support was terrible. It would take days, if not weeks to respond. After a lot of waiting and runaround, I spent a lot of time standing up a clone of my site so that *they* could test.
Their response after another round of waiting? It was a bug in their software and it would require a completely new rewrite of the plugin.
Oh by the way, disabling all of my WordPress plugins changed nothing.
And my request for a refund went unanswered.
I realize that MBP is a well-regarded outfit, so I was completely taken aback that their reponse would be so poor. I’ve since given up on them and my $100 and am looking for a replacement auto-linker.
